Spray Plant UK are pleased to announce that we have been asked to supply specialist concrete waterproofing application equipment to a construction company working on a landmark tunnel project.
The Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link is a 17.6 km under-construction immersed tunnel connecting the Danish island of Lolland and the German island of Fehmarn across the Baltic Sea. Set to become the world’s longest combined road and rail tunnel, it will significantly cut travel times, from a 45-minute ferry ride to 10 minutes by car and 7 minutes by train. The high-speed electrified rail line will support speeds up to 200 km/h.
Denmark is financing the €7.4 billion project through state-guaranteed loans repaid via tolls, while Germany invests €800 million in road and rail connections. The tunnel will replace the Rødby-Puttgarden ferry route and integrate central Europe with Scandinavia.
Construction began in 2021, and the project is expected to be completed by 2029.
Significant milestones, including dredging and the construction of tunnel elements, have been achieved, with continued progress toward completion.
SPUK are proud to have been recommended by a leading material manufacturer who was impressed by the high-volume spray machines, accessories and advice we supplied for a previous concrete waterproofing project.
Because of the size of the project, our machines are designed to spray at high volume, meaning operators can work quickly.
Spray Plant UK also have the service and maintenance contract for the machines. We have excellent logistics processes and a purpose-built workshop in the UK, which means we can eradicate downtime on the job and keep our customer on time and on budget.
